Our story
Wake on the Bay was born from a lifelong love of the water. Founder Edd Grey spent his youth sailing competitively with Team GB, before turning his passion into a profession as a senior sailing instructor in his early 20s. From there, he expanded into waterskiing and wakeboarding, honing his skills at the iconic Low Wood Watersports Centre on the shores of Lake Windermere.
When speed restrictions were introduced on the lake, wakesurfing quickly emerged as the perfect alternative - thrilling, low-impact, and ideal for Windermere’s calm waters. Edd saw an opportunity to create something special.
In 2021, with one boat, a deep knowledge of the lake, and a vision to share his passion, Wake on the Bay launched, gratefully supported by Mastercraft Boats UK. Since then, we’ve grown steadily, building a reputation for top-level instruction, personalised experiences, and unforgettable days out on the water.
Today, we operate a premium fleet of surf, ski, and sailing vessels, supported by a team of expert instructors - but our mission remains the same: to deliver exceptional, down-to-earth water sports experiences in one of the UK’s most beautiful locations.

Founder & Lead Instructor
Edd has spent his life on the water. A former Team GB sailor and qualified senior sailing instructor, he brings over 15 years of experience in sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and wakesurfing. In 2021, he launched Wake on the Bay to share his passion and offer expert, down-to-earth coaching on Lake Windermere.

Upon arrival, you can find our free on-site car park located at the watersports centre on your left. Simply park your car, walk into the watersports centre, and a friendly member of staff will help you access your free parking, and guide you through the steps to get you on the water.
